Energy transition "Made in Sonthofen": BHS bets on massive photovoltaic power.

BHS-Sonthofen is taking another concrete step toward sustainable and energy-efficient production. In collaboration with regional partner Elektro Uhlemayr GmbH & Co. KG, a pioneering large-scale photovoltaic system has been installed at the Sonthofen site.

As a technology company focused on industrial performance and innovation, BHS-Sonthofen is taking responsibility for a more sustainable energy supply at its own facility. The new photovoltaic system utilizes existing roof space to generate and consume the largest possible share of required electricity directly on-site.

220.8 kWp photovoltaic capacity for the Sonthofen site

A total of 480 Heckert Solar modules are being installed across a roof area of ​​approximately 959 m². The roof’s east-west orientation and 15° pitch allow for a broad distribution of power generation throughout the day. The system features a modern inverter setup utilizing SMA Sunny Tripower 125-70 and Sunny Tripower X 60 units. The projected annual yield is approximately 209,259 kWh. Of this, 84.2%or 176,168 kWh—is intended for direct on-site use in the company's own processes.

In doing so, the photovoltaic system not only contributes to the use of renewable energy but also supports an efficient and cost-effective energy supply for the site.

Another step toward a more sustainable site

With the new photovoltaic system, BHS-Sonthofen is moving toward a more independent and renewable energy supply at its Sonthofen location. The high projected rate of self-consumption demonstrates that a large portion of the generated energy can be utilized immediately within operational processes.

The project thus combines technological capability, regional collaboration, and concrete measures for greater sustainability.
