Coffee extraction

Higher extract yields

Optimal extraction using a rotary pressure filter

Extraction processes for soluble coffee can be significantly optimized by using rotary pressure filters. Manufacturers benefit from higher yields using the same or even less water – and consumers enjoy particularly rich flavors.

Enhanced flavor

Rotary pressure filters of type RPF deliver a highly concentrated extract. The gentle extraction process at low temperatures preserves the material’s scent and flavor and results in the highest product quality. A much shorter extraction time also means that fewer bitter substances are released. The consumers are sure to notice.

Benefits at a glance:

  • Continuous processing
  • Gentle extraction
  • High yield and plant availability
  • Maximum resource efficiency

Higher extract yields

Higher extract yields

Rotary pressure filters enable a continuous production process. Compared to the conventional process using extraction columns, continuous pressure filtration allows for a considerably lower cake thickness. This means that smaller particle sizes of the product can be manufactured, which increases the surface area of the solid by a factor of 100. The significantly enhanced liberation facilitates much more intensive and faster extraction due to the shorter diffusion path. The extraction time is reduced to only about one minute. In this way, the yield generated from the same amount of resources can be measurably increased.

Proven quality

Proven quality

Numerous rotary pressure filters are in use worldwide to ensure greatly improved extraction processes. The system is easy to clean, delivers top availability and meets GMP requirements. Operators can set parameters such as temperature, washing water, exposure time or grinding degree with pinpoint accuracy. This predestines the rotary pressure filter for this application, as well as for other instant products such as soluble tea. The rotary pressure filter is also the first choice when it comes to plant extraction for medicinal purposes.

BHS Rotary Pressure Filters of type RPF contribute to a highly concentrated, high-quality extract. And these are the features that count when it comes to producing food and dietary supplements. In terms of coffee, the consumer always expects a product whose flavors were extracted in a mild, low-temperature process. Manufacturers of soluble coffee benefit from higher yields using the same or even less water – and consumers enjoy particularly rich flavors.
