Success stories

Concrete for Europe's biggest wind farm

Mixing concrete for more than 1100 windmills of Europe’s biggest wind farm is no small task. Which is why Tecwill Oy, a Finnish expert for concrete batching plants, puts his trust in a twin-shaft batch mixer from BHS-Sonthofen. The mixer produces four cubic meters of fiber concrete per batch and allows for casting up to three windmill bases per day. Tecwill and his customer particularly praise the mixer for its reliability and the efficiency of the time- and cost-saving mixing principle.

The right mix for the Aberdeen port expansion

Dragados UK & Ireland uses mixing technology from BHS-Sonthofen to produce the concrete required for the expansion of the Aberdeen harbor. A total of 9,000 accropods will be produced with the concrete and used in the outer protective walls for the northern and southern breakwaters. Industrias Leblan supplied a mixing plant that includes a BHS twin-shaft batch mixer.

Largest mixer in the corporate history of BHS

After winning an international tender, BHS-Sonthofen was commissioned with constructing the largest mixer in the company’s history. An Indian zinc mine operator required a mixer with a very large filling capacity. The proven Combimix system with overflow was custom-built by BHS-Sonthofen in this extraordinary size and shipped off to India. Ease of maintenance, implementation of all customer requirements and a local service office convinced the Indian customer to opt for BHS-Sonthofen.

Premium sand from off-spec particles

Sand manufacturer Kasprs Build Mate inaugurated a new plant for processing off-spec particles in Pune, India. The centerpiece of the plant is the rotor impact mill from BHS-Sonthofen, which, in contrast to conventional VSI rotor crushers, even further reduces fine grain sizes. Kasprs can thus make use of off-spec material of other companies to produce high-quality Plaster Sand and Dry Mortar Sand for the construction industry.

New BHS mixer for the Grand Paris Express

Unibéton, a French subsidiary of the HeidelbergCement Group, is producing special ready-mixed concrete formulations for the “Grand Paris Express” project. To improve the production process, the company replaced a planetary mixer with a twin-shaft batch mixer from BHS-Sonthofen. This means that a mixer equipped with frequency converters for more efficient processing is used for the first time in France.

BHS twin-shaft batch mixer used on major construction site in Stuttgart, Germany

The concrete manufacturer Godel-Beton relied on the tried-and-tested twin-shaft mixing technology from BHS-Sonthofen in the Stuttgart 21 project. Three of the impressive pillars that provide stability and daylight in the concourse were completed with the aid of the twin-shaft batch mixer. Two BHS machines with an output of 2.25 cubic meters of hardened concrete per batch were used to mix the highly complex concrete needed for the construction.

Twin-shaft batch mixer used for concrete pipe manufacturing in Indonesia

Twin-shaft batch mixers from BHS-Sonthofen feature special drive technology that can impressively handle demanding tasks. BHS supplied these types of mixers for a second time to a player in Indonesia’s precast concrete industry; two machines were sent to the company PT Calvary Abadi. This clearly demonstrates that twin-shaft batch mixers are suitable for use with precast concrete, contrary to popular opinion.

TWINMIX system accelerates highway reconstruction in Switzerland for KIBAG AG

Project managers used Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) for the first time to reconstruct the major highway connection between the villages of Küssnacht and Brunnen and significantly reduce construction time. As the requirements for the mixing process are rather high, the Swiss company KIBAG AG selected an ultra-modern, rapidly deployable concrete mixing system. Two high-performance twin-shaft batch mixers form the core of the system.

Mixing technology for an airport expansion in Vietnam

BHS-Sonthofen supplied a twin-shaft batch mixer of type DKXS 4.00 for constructing the parking areas for airplanes at Cần Thơ Airport in Vietnam in 2018. The system produced 18,000 cubic meters of concrete in just 45 days during the rainy season, without downtimes and with a consistently high product quality – just like the customer had requested.

Cubification of sand in the United Arab Emirates

The large quantities of natural sand in the region do not have the properties required for the construction projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Therefore, mine operator Stevin Rock manufactures the sought-after commodity out of limestone in the United Arab Emirates. Two rotor centrifugal crushers of type RSMX have been used for the final – and crucial – finishing step since September 2018. The two RSMX crushers with TwinDrive break the particles down into the ideal shape, ensuring a consistently high sand quality.
