No matter which derivative you produce, such as methyl, micro or carboxymethyl cellulose – when it comes to filtration and washing, our filters offer you comprehensive advantages compared to other technologies. Highest product quality, maximum yield and efficient use of resources characterize our machines.
The BHS ring layer mixer AVA HRM and the continuous reactor AVA HTC-T are used in series production of cationized starches. In the first stage, the starch powder (native starch) is intensively and homogeneously mixed with the etherifying agent and sodium hydroxide (catalyst) in the ring layer mixer at circumferential agitator speeds of up to 40 m/s. Following this, etherification is carried out in a heated horizontal reactor. The reaction process is maintained continuously at processing times of between 1 h to 4 h. Finally the starch enhanced with sodium hydroxide solution is neutralized by adding acid. In this final process step a highly uniform mixing of the components is ensured by a further BHS ring layer mixer.
In the production of modified starch, the rotary pressure filter is suitable for filtration, washing and drying. Processing takes place continuously in a closed system. This ensures consistently high quality and residual moisture of the end product. The unique pressure-based continuous filtration method of the RPF from BHS facilitates highly efficient and safe production, especially for demanding starch types.
