Contaminated materials transformed into value at ELG
At the ELG quarry in Beauvilliers, in the Eure-et-Loir region of France, the primary treatment unit has been modified to improve the dosing of quicklime used in the treatment of contaminated materials called “steriles”. The multi-stage operation not only increased global materials production by making better use of the steriles, but also improved working conditions in the plant and, ultimately, reduced production costs per ton produced.
Extensive tests with new material
Harborlite Aegean in Turkey, a subsidiary of Imerys, now processes different types of perlite for the juice industry with an impact crusher of type PB 0806 from BHS-Sonthofen. This is the first time for the machine to be used for this purpose. Tests with original material in Sonthofen and previous experiences with the maintenance-friendly machines from BHS gave the customer the confidence to make this unusual choice.

Harborlite Aegean in Turkey, a subsidiary of Imerys, now processes different types of perlite for the juice industry with an impact crusher of type PB 0806 from BHSSonthofen – the first time for the machine to be used for this purpose. Performance minerals are key to many different industries, from plastics and paint production to batteries and filtration purposes. Imerys, a world leader for mineral-based specialties for industrial use, is an expert in producing a wide variety of performance materials.

German mixing technology wins in US
At the former Pier 55 along the Hudson River in New York, 132 precast tulip elements, mounted on 267 concrete piles, form a 2.4 acre artificial island. They are the new eye-catchers of the waterfront. For the ambitious project, precast producer and supplier of the concrete flowers Fort Miller Co. relied on the proven mixing technology from BHS-Sonthofen. Two BHS twin-shaft batch mixers of type DKXS 3,00 ensured concete of the highest quality.

What is to be done when there is no empirical data for the production conditions of using a mixer in advance? And what to do furthermore if the construction site of the mixer is difficult to access? These were the initial conditions that BHS-Sonthofen GmbH, Sonthofen/Germany, had to contend with as part of the ARGE ETS Konrad mine
project in Salzgitter-Bleckenstedt/Germany. It had to design a BHS twin-shaft batch mixer and deliver a custom-designed mixing plant.
