January 22, 2024
At the end of December, BHS-Sonthofen won the internationally renowned "Good Design Award" in the "Industrial" category for the RAPAX. The intelligent design of the high-performance pre-shredder, which was developed in collaboration with the industrial design company DT Design Tech, impressed the jury. The Good Design Award is considered the world's oldest design prize.

With the RAPAX, which was launched in 2021, BHS-Sonthofen combines design and function and takes pre-shredding to a new level. The machine can be used universally and its various versions are suitable for processing metal fractions, commercial and industrial waste and construction waste.

The development was carried out in close cooperation with DT Design Tech from Ammerbruch - one of the most successful industrial design companies in the world with well over 200 design awards. The main aim was to use functional design elements to make the machine more robust and easier to maintain. The intelligent design of the machine reflects the robustness, efficiency and performance of the pre-shredder. DT Design Tech submitted the RAPAX for the Good Design Award 2023.

The prize has been awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum, Museum of Architecture and Design since 1950. It is the world's oldest design prize and was founded by the architects Eero Saarinen, Ray and Charles Eames and MoMa curator Edgar Kaufmann Jr. Since then, the award has been an internationally renowned trademark for innovative design.
